is there some way i can cancel my vodacom contract early? august is renewal, but i have to wait untill the end of october to cancel.

i rely on my phone a lot for work, but i often just get an sms saying i have voicemail, can't make calls, can't hold a call and 3g signal all over is just plain k*k. last year i phoned 111 and my call got dropped. couldn't phone back and got 3 voicemails from the consultants. when i eventually held a call long enough, i was told to take my phone in so i refused.

last month i put a cell c sim in my phone and presto! full signal! always!

anyone know if it's possible to cancel earlier and how much it costs?

It is possible, but there are penalty fees payable. I think it's 75% of the amount you would have paid over the remainder of your contract. VodacomData or ocleroux should be able to confirm.

i'm on my 24th month of this contract, but there's that extra three months added on because i upgraded early, effectively lubing myself up for a damn good rogering.

I think pre-CPA contracts require you to pay for all months' service up to the end of the contract. Then they can also charge you handset and cancellation fees. That's been my experience.

Sometimes downgrading means you gotta pay some fee...but I'm not sure if CPA has changed that

I agree, pay the penalty. atleast on your next contract you are protected by CPA

i'll have to wait until the end of october. :( i'm on R549 contract, i can't afford 3 months of subscrription in one go. also, my wife will kill me for wasting money - in a way i guess it's more like "bail" than a waste. and changing to prepaid is free at the end of your contract, but you lose any free minutes etc.

i read a few places and found out tha the CPA only works for contracts signed after april.

i'm now left with 3 months to decide whether i want to keep my 082 number. i don't think it's such a hassle to change my number. i don't want to be reminded of who i was being shafted by.

You can keep your number easily, any network will allow you to take your 082 number to them and change for free.....no need for your contract to affect your number.
