Just phoned 10210, to try and cancel my ADSL line and voice services and had the phone put down twice in my ear by a consultant. I am not amused.

Is there any other way to cancel my Telkom services?

Tried that, and they give you a telephone ... , they say it is the only way to cancel my Telkom services.

This happened to me.

The only thing I have managed to do in a Direct store is pay an account. Anything else and they hand you a telephone and tell you to press 1 for 10210 on speed dial. Needless to say, I completely lost my marbles in the store but came back again at 16:45 and refused to leave until I was helped.

Did you get helped? :)

Write a cancelletion letter (with an effective end date).
Go to the Bloem Telkom Direct Store and hand it to the "consultant".
Tell him/her to process it and give you a ref number.
Refuse to use phone.
Refuse to leave.
Obtain either ref number or a print out of your cancellation request once processed.
Leave store.
Have a stiff drink!!

The telkom direct store at college square is always way to busy {through I havn't been their in a while} usually only one or two consultants and about 30 or 40 people waiting for service if you plan on going I recommend setting a few hours aside.

I am of a bloody good mind, to just not pay, till they cancel it themselves. Then take 6 months to pay them the outstanding.

Another would be to hand them the letter, ask them to sign acknowledgment of receipt and then to walk out of the shop. Legally you have provided them notice of termination.

Yip but then don't use the lines either.

Finally got sorted after numerous attempts and a great deal of aggravation. To the detriment, of my blood pressure, and piece of mind.

Why could they have not just done the job, they are paid to do, first time round.
