Cancellation Count

My Mywireless512 contract is up at the end of October. Just ordered ADSL512. Going with OpenWeb uncapped as soon as the ADSL is installed. THANKS FOR THE INFO MRBEEP!

Shame on Sentech for scrapping the cheapest "true broadband" product in SA. Anything with a cap of less than 30GB is not broadband in my book.

Going to spend R300 a month more for uncapped ADSL now.

I`m on 128 Classic, month-to-month.

I ordered 384 ADSL at the end of July after giving up with poor throughput and crappy latency and no concrete answers. I have a revised date of 14 Sept (it was 18 Aug to start).

As soon as my ADSL is active, I`ll be cancelling with Sentech.

Well I am pleased they finally took away the last reason I put up with them. They called the office on Friday but I wasn't in, apparently they're calling this week to speak to me.

So I guess I'll go to iBurst. I cannot find words to describe how stupid Sentech is. I mean really.

I cancel when they kept charging me for the modem when the contract had expired and refused to pay back the money

We managed to get a refund for our 'overcharged months, just had to write a letter requesting the refund and for modem rental to be removed.

I was phoned on Saturday. I also consider cancelling, but I can not wait upon Telkom to install ADSL. How is Iburst and what contracts are you looking at for iburst. I need it for remote admin on client servers, email, internet and a lot of ftp for uploading prices for online store. My patience was tested with the poor latency from sentech especially with remote admin. Will it be the same issue at iburst or are we talking about a different technology here.

Or is it better to go with adsl?

People must realise, adsl is stable and much much better throughput than Sentech and iBurst.
Having to deal with Telkom is frustrating, but nothing more than dealing with Sentech. Telkom is slow and unreliable, but once your line is installed, you don't really have to deal with them anymore, just pay your monthly account. I've recently moved from Sentech to adsl. I was concerned with having to deal with Telkom, but now my adsl is installed and working sweetly, combined with Web Africa's prepaid package, I don't have any problems at all.

Haven't had the dreaded call yet (I'm with no-wire tho...). However, a work mate is bringing his iBurst modem in for me to test tomorrow. All being well, I'll cancel before I get the call...

Which Rocket scientist?

I don't know which rocket scientist made the decision to scrap the classic accounts but he/she is probably due for a promotion! Isn't that how government works. The bigger the stuff up the quicker the promotions.

as for their R1/meg offer!?! W O W are they on a roll or what? iBurst and others must be rubbing their hands in glee. Still haven't decided where to go but with the sincerely P A T H E T I C offerings that sentech has it obviously cannot be them.

I ordered ADSL on Saturday, but decided not to cancel my Sentech account until the ADSL is up and running. I got the dreaded phonecall yesterday. Some very nervous sounding woman trying to convince me that it's more economical for me to move to the flexi package...what a joke! I'm currently on a month to month, but Sentech seems to think I'm on a contract until 2008. Funny they should think that considering I bought my modem up front.
I was told I could switch over to flexi now and "save" myself some money (yeah right) or I could stay on the 256k package and pay for bandwidth I don't use. It seems that if I stay, I'll still get my 20GB...for the near future anyway. It was the easiest decision I've ever made. 20GB for R699 or 10GB for R1999...you do the maths *:o)

got the call - more than once

I received the call, sounded like a 7 year old reading a book. At the end of all the mumble he asked if I would like to move over - I asked what the benifit is and he replied that he did not know (also mumbled something about better speed).

I am on a month to month 256 package and I know IBURST is releasing a very interesting package later this year. I think Sentech might have lost one more client

I am on the 128 classic, only took it out on two year contract in March through nowire, so have 18 months of contract left!

Of note is that this was proposed and in the pipelines by sentech when the flexi packages were introduced last year, they were never introduced as an add on product but as a replacement product, but they held off on the heavy moves cos they hoped that with all the hype and marketing surrounding the flexi packages and the incentives of computers offered etc, that more people would naturally migrate toward the flexi packages.

As it is almost a year since the flexi packages were introduced and the public hasn't been fooled or come to the party, Sentech are now bringing in the heavy ammo and forcing people to migrate.

Point to note, NoWire isn't stupid, as resllers they are quite resouceful and they have turned into broadband "wholesalers" too. They are now doing iBurst as well as MyWireless and hope to get adsl on board too, so they will have all the bases covered. Plus they do connectnet wireless credit card transactions too!

Strange I have had no call from NoWire yet, instead I ahve been trying to get hold of them via email since friday, a query to do with my debit order. I was trying via email contact and repeatedly tried to send an email query through to both [email protected] and to [email protected] I kept getting those delivery failure notifications. For the billing one it was telling me that tehir mailbox was full and for the sales one I kept getting that this email did not exists. EVentually this mornig out of desperation I tried [email protected] and also sent a query through to their Cape Town email. I eventually very kindly got a response for the info email today midday saying they ahd forwarded my email on to the finance department????

Go my call today. Guy states my usage per month for the last 3 months and then proceeds to tell me that it would be cheaper to take the 10 Gb package so I asked him how. He had to work it out first before responding. Anyway the bottom line is that without requesting a move, my agreement will expire at end of October.

Now the big worry - WILL I BE ABLE TO GET ADSL BY THEN ??? I am happy to do the installation myself but need Telkom to come to the party. I am still debating ISPs - looking for uncapped & unshaped packages. Any suggestions?
