Cancellation: HELP!

Phone ST head office and ask to speak to Dr Potgieter. If she's "busy" then get a fax number and send her a letter in person. Tell her you are cancelling because of their misleading advertising and demand that it be done by close of business. Send a copy to Selloane Khosi ( selloane at asasa.org.za) and the ISPA.

Let us know if there are any problems. She has admitted there is a problem, so she can fix it. If you live in JHB you could always make an appointment to go and see her. Be sure to take your modem with you. Then you can have the satisfaction of persoanlly shoving it ...

Go to www.transunionitc.co.za and get your credit profile. It costs around R50 and is worth it. If any of the information is wrong, they are legally bound to correct it. You can see what info they have, as well as who is checking up on you. Their site has some other useful information on it.

If Sentech renames their packages in accordance with ASA recommendations then, in theory, all contracts should be automatically null and void. You can't logically have a valid enforceable contract for MyWireless 128k/256k/512k if there is no longer a service called MyWireless 128k/256k/512k. I can't see how they could reasonably take anyone to court for not paying for a contract that is for a service they no longer provide.

I am also trying to cancel my service and am experiencing the same problem. I have a ticket open with them and have furnished them with regular speed tests which they say have been added to my ticket history (needless to say the speeds have been atrocious not to mention the frequent downtime).

I am using the 128kbps package, connecting to tower 22 (Randburg, Jhb). Not only do I NOT agree with having to pay a cancellation fee, I feel I should be refunded.

Interestingly enough my companies 512kbps service measures slower on the speed test than my 128kbps. Go figure.

Any suggestions on how I should proceed will be welcome.

Here is the reply from Sentech support on my question of why I have to pay a cancellation fee even though their service is nowhere near what it should be.

>>
Good day,

In regards to your first two points, as per clause 7.3 in
your terms and conditions:

7.3)Services are used at the customer?s own risk and
Sentech makes no warranty and or guarantee that the
Services will meet the customer?s requirements, be
uninterrupted, complete, timely, secure or error free, nor
in respect of the subscriber apparatus or its suitability
for any purpose whatsoever.

In regards to your other three points. The cancellation fee
is calculated by the Accounts department, obviously they
will take all the issues you have had to account to then
work out a cancellation fee. If you would like a rebate,
kindly provide us with any/if any speed and connectivity
tickets that are open, and we will pass through a request.

Regards
Sentech Support
