Guys, I went to MTN Brooklyn this past Saturday to sign up for a new contract.
I wanted the new SGS2, unfortunately the sales person thought I was referring to the old SGS1, so he signed me up.
Before I could collect the phone, that's when I realised that it was in fact the SGS1 not the new SGS2 that I wanted.
So, I told him that I am not gonna take it as it's not the phone I wanted.

He just took everything back and told me that he will cancel it.

My number is already activated as a contract and I have not used it to make calls since then cause I dont wanna use their airtime.
Fortunately I had data bundles which I did not forfeit when moving from Prepaid to Contract - so I am able to use them for Skpe calls etc.

I spoke to the store manager yesterday and she said that they had sent a "USD" for cancelattion to MTN and the turn-around time was 24hrs.
Today I spoke to the Sales person who assisted me on Saturday (manger on training) and he says that a resolution will only be reached within 2 weeks time????
This is so frustrating, other MTN store have the SGS2 in stock but cant assist me cause my number is still activated as a contract. Now I have to wait up to 2 weeks without using the number????

Is there anyone that can assist me, advice, who to contact etc? I thought of just ditching this number altogether and sign up for a new number but I have had this number since 2005 and I really dont wanna lose it.

Thanks

Sorry I can't help you with your contract issues, but which MTN stores had stock of the SG2? I've been phoning all over Pretoria, and mostly the stores don't even know about the existence of the phone. I'm anxiously awaiting availibility, but MTN seems clueless even though they'd published in the media that the phone would be available in June/July.

It you could let me know it would be awsome!

Not to worry. Just got a call from Menlyn, they have my phne ready! Yaay!

go to hellopeter i got a response out of them maybe u can get it solved qiocker that way or find the mtn md on twitter hehehehe and nail him

Ok, cancellation done! Now back to Prepaid. All thanks to a lady called Brenda, one of the supervisors at MTN 808.
The MTN Store said that it will take weeks, but Brenda pulled some strings and it was sorted.

Now I need to get the correct handset (SGS2), the very same MTN Brooklyn Store told me that I would have to wait 3 months before I could sign up again!
But the supervisor from MTN 808 said that was utter rubbish. I have since sent my application with another MTN Store, crossing fingers!
