My mother has a Blackberry 8520 on contract she has been using it for like 6 months now.

i want a Blackberry 8520 doesn't matter if its 2nd hand.

i don't work so i don't have a payslip meaning i cant get a cellphone on contract.

I work a few days a month and earning peanuts kind of helping out.

I want to ask my mom to cancel her contract and let me have her 8520 (not for free of course) and then take out a new cellphone contract for another blackberry for herself.

If she agrees how much should i expect to pay for the cancellation of the contract ?

NB she is using Vodacom

....mmmm contract is very new and it could work out rather expensive to cancell it now. You may contact cancellations on 0821958/9 and request a quote. Keep in mind that once it has been converted to prepaid she needs to wait 6 months before it can be converted back into a contract again. . Easiest would be to just buy the new BB 9320 on the prepaid special. Think the price is R2599.00.

its easier to die, than getting out of a cellphone contract without an arm and a leg. they work it out on your monthly use to date, multiply that by the number of months left and add the cost of the handset. it can be R5K or even R10K. thats how cellphone contracts work.

a friend of mine recently had to pay R24K to get out of his contracts.

good luck...

That is not how we do it. You basically pay up the remaining months subsriptions + current usage. Vodacom SP also gives a discount on prem cancellations.

This is why I never understand why people would want to cancel their cell contracts? They are paying for all the remaining months but not receiving any service/minutes (excl the handset, if applicable) in return for that? ... if I understand it correctly.

Basically yes. But as mentioned earlier...there is a bit of a discount involved these days with us. Something to do with the CPA etc.

ockie seems like you know what you are talking about. Please explain my situation using numbers like how much is likely going to be paid

Please contact 0821958. It is a free call from your Vodacom sim.

They will generate and email you the proper quote.
