I am currently on an MTN Anytime 100 contract with Nashua Mobile, with about eight months left before I can upgrade. Would it be possible for me to cancel this contract and create a new one (with Nashua)? Would this incur any ridiculous fees of sorts? Or would I just have to pay the remaining R800?

You'll probably incur ridiculous fee's. I'd suggest waiting for the new Consumer Protection Act to kick in, which does away with silly acceleration clauses in cellphone contracts.

Ah cool, thanks. I think I'll just wait until January and then upgrade...

I had a fray with a 4U shop awhile ago. They wanted me to pay the remainder and about R1500 cancellation fee. Fortunately Vodacom Customer Care intervened (after a hellopeter post!) and cleared the matter. There was no cancellation fee (4U shop was looking for an extra buck).
