Damn, last I heard the admin fee was R350.
I'm still waiting for my refund, 3 weeks after returning it but I was told I have to wait between 2-4 weeks so I know I can wait another week.

so you can return a CONTRACT within 7days but have to pay a "small" fee of like R200 - R400?

Hey guys, hopefully someone can help with this.

I went into the Cape Gate Cell C store on the 3rd Jan 2011 to sign up the 60GB Speedstick contract. Everything went great got the dongle and sim on contract.

Went home connected everything up and working okay, checked my data balance and it was 4.7GB's (prorata amount as it was the 3rd), the latencies were terrible so online gaming sucked but yeah not to bad otherwise. I had to download a patch for wow and it was 2.3GB, so I thought that would be a nice way to test the speed. started the download and no issues, however when I when to check the balance after the download it was still 4.7GB.

On the 4th of jan I checked my balance again and it was still the same. I phoned customer care and they said there was nothing wrong, I explained that i had been downloading but my available data was not changing and she said it can take 2 days to update my data balace (that is crazy!!).

I then emailed Customer services, and received no reply. I phoned again on the 5th and got told there was no problem (my data balance was still the same). I sent more emails on the 6th and 7th followed by phone call after phone call. Still same answers, I had downloaded close to 5GB's but my account balance still says 4.7GB's.

I went into the CellC store again on Saturday morning, they told me there is nothing wrong and my balance is correct, I have 4.7GB's of data remaining. They asked that I please bring the modem in so they could test.

I went back to the store and 18:30 on Saturday evening, they tested it by checking my balance then using the modem and checking again. They saw the problem and said they would look into it. By this time I had enough and requested that they please take the modem back I no longer want the contract as it was still in the 7 day return policy, which they then said they could not do as I could only return it if the modem was faulty.

On Cell C's website they state you can return the device and cancel within 7 days for whatever reason! FALSE ADVERTISING!!!

I demanded they cancel the contract, they said they would get back to me.

Monday came and they said it was now working, I told them I was not interested and had requested that it be cancelled. I went by the store after work to confirm that this had been done, to my suprise it was not cancelled insted they wanted to show me it was now working, so they tested it and WOW still not working!

I again demanded that it be cancelled, it is now Tuesday and it is not cancelled!!!!!!!

This is pathetic. I would warn anyone against this product it does not deliver as promised.

If there is a cell c rep on this forum you are glad to contact me, however do not waste my time unless it is to finilise the cancellation.

Anyhow sorry for the long read, and hopefully it somes up the lengthy process I am currently tied up in!

I share your grief man

I had a "situation" last year with Cell C. I ended up placing a complaint on HelloPeter and their response was within the hour. I believe you should do the same. That said, have you tried doing any torrent downloads? Anyone know if the restrict the torrent port to dismally slow? Your feedback's appreciated! :D

I opted for the pre-paid 24GB bundle. ( prepaid as apposed to monthly so that i would not have to deal with their "customer service")
So far I am happy with the purchase, fairly quick and works 95% of the time.

I agree, complaining on hellopeter.com always gets results for me...

Just to give a bit of feedback.

I have posted a complaint of hellopeter -> no reply as yet.
I have emailed ASASA -> No reply as yet.

I then contacted Mr Davids who is the regional manager for the Cape Gate store that I went to. He promised to phone me back within the hour, that was at 11:43 and it is now 13:34, no phonecall as yet.

I phoned the store 3 times today left messages, they eventually got back to me at 12:36. The request has gone to JHB and they are making decision as to if they will cancel the contract. And no the regional manager has not even contacted the store as yet.

I am at a wits end, according to their site, if you are not happy you can return the product within 7 days for whatever reason. They are "THAT CONFIDENT" <-- see link below (the store says they where not aware of that statement, its a joke)

http://www.cellc.co.za/internet/data_postpaid/return-and-refund-policy

But suppose it is wait and see, in the meantime busy waiting for my telkom analog line to be installed..... Telkom may be a pain but at least they honest and tell you it is going to take long.

I ran the WOW updates over p2p, speed was okay, nothing near 21mbps more like a spike to 3mbps and an average of around 2.2mbps. When I ran the same updates over Http only, i averaged around the same speed. So doesnt look like they are shaping.

Overall I was not impressed by the speed, my previous 4Mbps account with Mweb was faster and far more stable. Yeah I paid more but it worked! well I might add.

Joy. I'm planning to cancel my CellC because it's just plain not working, so I see the hassles I'm going to be going through.

Ok so.... a Representitive from Cell C contacted me about 20 minutes ago regarding my complaint on Hellopeter.

She confirmed that Cell C has a 7 day return policy and my contract should have already been cancelled as I returned the modem within 7 days.

I think the problem has come up because the store was not aware of the 7 day return policy and did not process the correct paperwork. Now the modem has been lying in the Cape gate store and has gone past the 7 day return policy.

So bottom line is that the store is not fully educated on the product they are selling and at the end of the day dropping the consumer in the deep end. It should not be the consumers job to educate a store on the product they are supplying.

I have found out that half the Cell C stores are not even part of Cell C, they are 3rd party companies just branded Cell C. So now there is a communication gap between the two companies.

Oh well, what can you do? .....

Okay so still no word from Cellc,

The branch manager will not take my calls, Megan in store is not returning my calls.

I have heard nothing back from the complaints department.

I did however receive a message back from the ASA who has forwarded the matter to the DTI. They will attempt to resolve the issue, if not resolved in the next 20 days a formal investigation will be done and from there we see what happens.

I intend to carry on with this until Cell C finally step up and resolve this issue.

As far as I am concerned this will be the last dealings I ever have with this company.

So over a month later, no resolution.

They are currently working on it, wow no suprise there.

What I don't understand - why didn't you just go to your local Pnp or PEP store and load airtime to test their service before signing up a contract, anyone knows when signing up for a contract to get out of the contract can be a long process and remember as a consumer it's your right to cancel any service before 7days if you not satisfied with the product.

Hi Richard,

As I mentioned, if you read the problem I actually had - The problem would not have shown up on a prepaid sim card, they where unable to tell me the data usage on the contract bundle and therefor I would not know when I went over my cap, so when they send me a bill how would I know if it was accurate?

Lars has replied and said he would assist in resolving the issue, but as yet nothing has happened. I keep getting promises that it will be solved by the end of the week, those start 3 weeks ago.....

So yes Richard, the signal was great and the speeds where great, but no use if I cannot track data usage......
