Hello peeps.

Does anyone perhaps have a copy of the prescribed form (affidavit) required to be completed when cancelling a TV license?
I have just e-mailed the SABC but fear that like many public institutions I may never get a response.

Thanks in advance.

Lol! Goodluck.
lol! I've never needed such a fine blend of sarcasm and real intent as I did this comment. I guess as long as I do my part then I can send it to them annually from overseas when I get the demand letter(s) :p

It would be interesting to know if someone has ever truly manage to cancel for good.

I did.
I started in early 2009, submitting the form mentioned above via fax so many times I can't remember, via email every month for a year.
No reply from those channels.
Then I posted it by registered post on 28/03/2010.
Never got a reply until one day I received an acknowledgement.
A letter in the post, "confirmation of cancellation".
That was 15/03/2011.
The whole process took two years.

I did, around 6yrs aho. It was painless surprisingly, maybe I just got the single employee that actually puts finger but I submitted the form and whatever docs they wanted and a while later I was notified it was cancelled.

There are some cavets, one being that you must have evidence of what happened to your TV, either the TV license number of the new owner or an affidavit that it was destroyed.

My story was the screen cracked and it was not economical to repair so I took it to the dump and disposed of it.

... and so my journey starts. Pity we're immigrating (dv) next month, so I'll have to give 'em a toffee from abroad ;)

edit: Sadly I carry no information that my TV is gone. We sold all our household items, including the TV.

Make something up similar to what I told them, what ever it is it must end with the complete and utter destruction of your TV, that's the gist of it.

Also be careful if you had purchased multiple TV's under that license, if possible ask a relative if you can use their name and license number as the person who "bought" the TV.

The revenue stream is embedded, you going to run in circles.

So ................ I got my call today.

Beeatch tells me I am being handed over to some tw@t, and the call is being recorded ........

Invited her over to my spot to come see my Roku from Walmart.
Turns out, a Florida trip isnt on the plans for these clowns.
She is "making a note" - not sure if a Note 4, 5 or 10 ...........

Bye, have a nice day now.
