I have descided to find out about cancelling my Vodacom 3G Data bundle. My account is with vodacom thru mweb.

After querrying the cancelation fee, it boils down to around R5600 that they wanna charge for me to cancel as i have 17 months left on the contract. However what bothers me is that they wanna charge me for 17months of bandwitdh i have not used but they say i lose that bandwitdh and dont get to use it.

In otherwords i pay for bandwitdh i can never use.

IS this legal, are they allowed to charge me for the remainder of the contract and then not give me the bandwitdh i am paying for ?

I'd like to know about this as well, because I want to cancel my contract and move over to Vodacom Prepaid. Mine is direct with Vodacom though, not via Mweb.

I guess if your name is Vodacom you can do whatever you want.

IS this legal, are they allowed to charge me for the remainder of the contract and then not give me the bandwitdh i am paying for ?

It seems like it, they do this every month to every contract subscriber. If you pay for 2Gig and you only use 1 Gig for the month you cannot use the other 1Gig although you legally paid for it. So if they can do it on a monthly basis to all their subscribers why not when you want to end your contract

They are there to make money, not to render you a service
