Hi there, Can anyone tell me where in the eastrand area can I get cheaper cartridges for my printer? I will use generic unless someone can talk me off that. And if anyone used Verbatim photographic paper, pls tell me if the prints came out good. Because it's much cheaper than cannon photopaper. Thanx

Thanks Gunny, but I searched their website, but didn't find the ink I'm using. Mine is the cli-8 ones, and it seems the generic ones are mostly for bci type. But thanx anyway. Any other suggestions are welcome

I used generic cartridges in an Canon I had a while back and it screwed the printer up completely - even originals don't want to work properly anymore - granted it was a cheap Canon (can't remember the model but it used one cartridge). I think the problem with generics on a Canon is that the printheads are fixed in the printer, not like HP where you replace the printheads with the cartridge.

Once the printheads get clogged with cheap ink, you stuffed. The printheads have to be replaced at a cost which is more than the printer - so I stay away from generics on my new Canon. The original ink cartridges are anyway cheaper than than HP or Lexmark.

You can take the print heads out and clean them. You should be able to find the instructions online.

I don't know if anyone has made aftermarket ones yet. Last time I spoke to KMP they said they were still in development. I recommend KMP in general. They make very good ink cartridges.
