Is there any solution to the below error received after attempting to restore an iPhone4?

I can't access the device. It says connect to iTunes when switched on and after I connect to iTunes the error pops up...???
I've even tried going through the whole restore process via recovery mode but still no success - the Crapple forums are no help either....

What firmware version are you restoring to?
Try a DFU mode restore.

Entering DFU Mode on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.

Screen will remain black.

Try using another phone that is not made by Apple? I hear they don't make you look like a **** and are much more bang for buck.

Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. Try another PC. If you're unable to activate using the iPhone itself, it means that the wifi on the phone has failed.
