Alo

I need help. Cannot boot from HP Compaq nx6310 optical drive...

Is there something I am missing? Optical is set as first boot device in BIOS.

Pls assist.

Hi

How old is the device? In my experience the older a cd/dvd rom, the higher the chance for failing to boot, especially when it is warm.

Let it cool down, and then try booting again.

Failing that you need to try a replacement unit to see if it solves the problem.

Well it is cool... :)

Not working on any boot material... be it OS, clonezilla, hiren boot disk... nada...

Can I take out the SATA 2.5" HDD and hook it to pc directly using SATA data and power cables? Or will I need an adapter...

Are you trying to boot a DVD or a CD? I have a compaq nw8000 and I found that a couple of years after getting the laptop, it no longer booted from DVD, but to this day, I can still boot from CD.

If you have the same problem, then your only real solution is to replace the drive.
