My ADSL is connected, but I cannot browse any websites. I have not reach my limit.
This is happened after my comupter suddenly restarted due to a error.
sometimes when you have a power failure your adsl desyncs. telkom will pick it up as working fine on their side, but you wont be able to browse anything.
look at your router- the dsl light will be on, but not the link light. If this is the case then phone telkom and ask them to reset your connection on their side. They will reset it, and it should start working straight away.
my laptop does this, even though the dsl and internet/ppp LEDs are lit, when i plug the lappie into the router it doesn't find internet. odd though because it shows up on the network.
for now i found dailng up a PPPoe from the laptop works, but a fix would be nicer than a work-around
A few things to try is:
Reset IE (if u use it) Internet tools > advanced > ...
Make sure there are no "dial ups listed" in the connections tab - delete if any. internet tools > connections
get your isp's dns settings - enter it in tcp/ip
ping your router - if you cant its the cable
good luck
Try to establish why your Internet isn't working:
1) Only your PC?
2) DNS problems? It would be a DNS problem if you can't ping www.aardvark.co.za, but pinging 196.25.211.106 works just fine
3) Account/Cap problem?
4) ADSL synchronization problem?
