Hi Everyone

My Wimax connection was installed this week but I am struggling to connect with my desktop computer.

My current setup: The network cable from the wimax unit goes straight into my network card. I also have one of those Telkom wireless routers (got from installation guy) but I am not using it. I am running Vista.

I keep on getting 815 error or its simply fails to connect the PPOE connection and asks if I want to try again or use a different connection.

I have no other connections, I have disbabled my firewall, Kaspersky antivirus and even recreated the connection and reset my unit several times...in in the process restarted my computer several times. None of these things seem to work or any combination of them.

Any ideas?

I guess it could be a problem with the firewall/network settings but I have disabled them. Also it could possibly be a network driver/card issue.

It connected on my work laptop (also running vista) without any problems. So it cannot be the unit or connection itself?

Also, sometimes it did work on my desktop, but after trying to update my virus definitions it would usually drop the connection after a while and I would struggle to get it to work again. At the moment it is not working at all. Two days ago I was still running XP and used to get the 678 error but then decided to install vista with the hope that a fresh OS will solve some issues.

Telkom and SP cannot help me and keep on suggesting the same stuff: reset, recreate connection....

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

PC - AMD 32000, 1024MB RAM, VISTA, ASUS A8N - SLI motherboard...

Thanks
Agrippa

Got a new network card and it seems to be working for now. Also not automatically updating my virus definitions since it stopped working previous times after I have done this...
