I've got some spare cash and undecided on what to do. I've got a PS3 and tempted to get a move bundle & Skylanders, or I go buy an XBox 4Gb with Kinect.

PS3: I want the move so I can continue playing heavy rain. My 5yr old is now "at that stage" and he will so digg Skylanders.

XBOX: I want the Kinect as there are more (cheaper) games for the little rugrats.

Further to my XBOX vs PS3 thread, I'll watch this discussion with interest too.

Expect the usual comments :p

Move requires additional controllers if you want more people to play. Kinect doesn't require any controllers, anyone can jump in and play. Kinect has more games available for it, and they're usually cheap too. I suppose you won't go wrong either way though.

Have you tried the kinect yet?

I understand your kids may enjoy it, but I've found the games, while cheaper, have very little replay value. If you get it, just realise that you're getting it for your kids.

It would be for the rugrats, next year I'm finishing my degree so wont play more than 1-2hrs a week myself.

Get the Xbox. Are the prices the same though?

Fatherly love begs to do what's best for the little critter, see what games is available on both machines for the young lad and let that be your deciding factor, but then again do not forget about the dad.

This interests me. What does the full Kinect set up cost compared to the Move set up?

This is a big issue as I struggled to find games for the little geek till lately on the PS3 but since the other geek in training is 2yrs old, I'm looking for titles they can both play.

If I had the cash I would just get the move and full XBox setup as all my friends who have both say its the only way.

Was in a similar situation but I had to decide between the Xbox Kinect and the ps3 with accessories. Eventually went with the Xbox kinect setup after having the kids try out both. I like the full body interaction with the kinect for young and old. It showed me just how unfit I was. My older son is more into his games like Skyrim and Black Ops whereas the younger ones prefer Skylander and interactive kinect games. For me the best thing about the kinect is that after a session of Kinect Sports, the kids are so tired that they sleep right through the night without waking us up. Only problem is in the morning, when they complain about sore muscles. Personally I think it was the best decision I ever made.

OK, I bought the Kinect as nobody had the move bundles in stock.

I got from Deon Wired:

R3K
4GB XBox
Kinnect
1 x Controller
4 x Game (disc): disney adventure; kinnect adventure; sport; disney game
1 x Downloadable Game (Dance Central 2)
2 x 1 month XBox Gold vouchers

Everyone always quotes Kinect as part of a package, what if you already have an XBOX?

There are lot of specials from R1699 up. Its just the number of games that vary.

Must say you need a large lounge for the Kinnect. Lots of fun but we still need to figure a few things out. My 5yr old played for about 2 hours solid running on the spot.

Best bundle i have seen around, thanks for sharing and congrats :).

Just some feedback:

The 4Gb bundle game with a DLC for Dance Central 2 (2.9GB) download and cannot be downloaded direct to main storage. You can however plug in a flash drive up to 32GB and allocate it as extended storage for downloaded content.

This means you can easily extend the storage of your console with off the shelf flash drives.

I used my 8GB one and downloaded Dance Central and a demo to it. Game & demo (Nike+) is running 100% off the flash drive. I actually prefer this to HDD as its for little rug rats who bump and knock stuff.

Also just got Skylanders Giants for my eldest today, real awesome game :)

I think you meant to say that the DLC couldn't be downloaded to the onboard storage due to space constraints. Clarifies things a bit, because DLC can be downloaded to any supported storage as long as there is space :) I wouldn't recommend using flash drives for anything other than game saves though, due to there being some limit on the maximum number of reads/writes before they fail.

The limit of IO is really a legacy issue these days. I've yet to have an SSD or flash drive fail due to IO and I tend to slap them silly with stress tests. Also with the cost of flash storage these days, I tend not to worry too much about that issue anymore.
