Cannot find certain applications in the Market - X10 Mini - Android 1.6

I'm having some trouble finding certain applications in the market. Specifically.. Voice Recorder seems to be unavailable to me. When I follow a link to the application in the market it shows not found. Are some applications restricted to newer Android versions? The X10 Mini runs 1.6 currently, with a 2.1 update coming out later this year. Or could it be restricted to overseas markets?

If anybody knows any other decent applications I could use to record guitar I'd appreciate some information. I've tried TapeMachine but it is also unavailable and I'm not keen on downloading from unknown sources.
 
I tried some random apps for recording...I am on 2.2, and most of them sucked a lot. Used one at band practice, and all I could hear was the bass, but it was uber low quality. I found 1 or 2 that could record high quality, not tried it with anything but an on tv, but it was much better. Problem, they could only record for 20 seconds or less at a time, which is useless. I need unlimited/5-10mins at a time at least. Will look around and see if I can find a solution, but in that you have to remember: 1.6 vs. 2.2 might be the problem. How is rooting looking on the x10 mini so far? Might be an option?!

I am the developer of TapeMachine. I am aware that it doesn't show up on devices with small QVGA screen on the market. I know the cause and will fix this soon. Meanwhile, you can actually download TapeMachine directly from the official website. Simply open http://tapemachine.samalyse.com with your Android browser, and tap on "Try and buy".

There you can download "TapeMachine Unregistered". It is a special version (with a green icon), which you can unlock by buying a license key with PayPal (Menu/About/Buy). It records up to 30s until you buy, which should allow you to check that everything's ok on your X10 Mini before buying.

Nice app olivierg! Just a quick question...how much does it cost? I did not see on your page, and I am not gonna go through page after page to try to see.
 
It's a decent application. According to this it's €3.99.

Right now, the price isn't displayed because taxes vary according to your location. But for South Africa that's right, it's currently 3.99€, whether you buy on the market or with PayPal.
 
By the way, would you mind telling me how it works on the X10 Mini? I did some basic testing on small screens, but I don't have that device at hand.

Seems to work perfectly. I haven't made many recordings but I haven't run into any problems.

Okay, that's cool. Just a last question: aren't the buttons two small on this screen? Especially the editing buttons (select, crop, delete, etc..)

Olivierg, quick question....what is the recording limit on the full version? I tested the demo today at band practice, and I am fairly impressed at the quality of sound! Well done on that! The fact that it's a demo obviously limits recording time to 30 seconds, but the program has a 00:00:30/02:00:00 at the bottom. Does that mean I can record files up to two hours? Not that I will realistically, but I just need to make sure it's not limited to 2 minutes, 'cos we are not speed punk, so most of our songs are 3-5 minutes long...I Just want to record bits in practices for reference later on when I work on my parts.
 
Hello francoisir, I'm glad that you can hear the quality :) Yes, the full version is limited to 2 hours, which is suitable for many types of music, from speed punk to concertos ;)

Actually, this limit only exists because of the way the waveform works currently. I will try and fix this in the future to support up to 10 hours of recording, and maybe much more than that when using a compressed format.

Awesome work Olivierg! I know a wave file can get pretty big after 2 hours of recording! I probably will stick to uncompressed wave for recordings most of the time, but implementing mp3 capabilities would be awesome, especially for lectures and meetings. Pointless to have it in wave, as you usually just need to hear what's going on. I just wish one could have decent input into a phone, that would be awesome...but in a few years it will be there I am sure:-)

Definitely planning to buy your app...just need to look at my budget the next month. Already bought a 16gb MicroSD card, and have a ton of speeding fines to pay....but your recording app is the first I have used and loved! The others just feel so limited! I used to work at a recording studio, so I guess I just feel comfortable when I see the wave form in front of me.
 
Thank you francoislr :-) Actually, the TapeMachine full version supports OGG Vorbis, which is similar to MP3, but also known to produce better sound at the same bitrates. I'm glad you appreciate the waveform. Actually I'm now also thinking about a high-def equalizer, with live spectrum curves, such as Jamin HDEQ.

@Rawb: I just released TapeMachine 1.5.9. It should now show up on the Android Market on your X10 Mini. I can't test it myself. Could you please confirm this?
