Hi All,

Firstly I want to say "What a great forum!" Used it a good couple times to resolve various issues. Except this one.....

OK - Specs..
HP Compaq nx7300 Laptop
Mega 105Wr Router

Will not talk to each other. Connect to 10.0.0.2 - put in admin admin - get IE Refresh page....

Connect my PC to Router - no problem - admin admin works fine.

Connect laptop to my Billion router - no problem - with same settings can browse internet. My PC with same settings can talk to Mega router no problem.

I have reset router (30 secs) removed all temp files and stuff on IE (IE6) reset all web settings and no change...

I CAN connect to the telkom site though. I just cannot log into the router to change password etc. Setup CD - cannot detect router through USB OR UTP..

I used 2 different WORKING UTP cables and no change.

THIS laptop and THIS router (Mega) don't talk.

I have already swapped the router for another one. As I said - Router WORKS and Laptop WORKS - just not together.

Any suggestions other than the client must get a different type of router?

Try setting a default gateway for your laptop if its being fussy - start > run > cmd > ok > ipconfig /all > check def gateway > network options > tcpip > give pc ip > default gateway - paste from ipconfig /all > ok > try login in explorer.

Still no go

OK tried that and I still get the same thing.

The page I get says "The page cannot be displayed"

Typical internet refresh page..

Dude thats weird cos i was connecting fine to my router a few days ago (10.0.0.2) , now when i try to login it says "cannot display page"

:(

Hywelt111 try going into properties, tcp/ip, then choose ip as anything other than 10.0.0.2 (try 10.0.0.7) then leave subnet mask and put gateway as 10.0.0.2

then try logging in again

i tried it buit it doesn work..even tried a different ip address :(

Nope

Now it's just getting wierd.

The router works as a network hub. The laptop just cannot log into the router. My PC - fine.

I have now tried with various ip and gateway settings, ie7 and firefox.

Could it just be that THIS laptop is incompatible with this MODEL router?

Are you sure your browser is not set to use a proxy?
If it is - untick "Use a proxy" and you should be able to access the router.
