Hi,

My fiancée's phone can not make outgoing calls whilst on 3g. When switching to 2g then outgoing calls work. She has a Motorola Defy which I have flashed with Jelly Bean, but I doubt that it is the problem, as I also also have a Motorola Defy Jelly Bean but with Red Bull Mobile and no issues. When I swap our sims then the problem persists with her Vodacom sim in my phone. I told her to get a new sim, but this did not help either. Other versions of Android also did not work with her sim on 3g.

Any advice appreciated.

Have you tested it in different areas or is it localized in one area only? If it is a localized problem...a call should be logged with 082111

It's not localized, problem is reproducible from PTA to JHB. She had a blackberry before, with BIS, but sold the BB and I think canceled the BIS, not sure if this has any influence.

And you are on Vodacom also with the same phone and OS and not having the same problem? Means it is not a network problem. Seeing the problem follows her sim no matter the phone...it might be a issue on her line....though I do not see how. 082111 will be able to log a fault for her.

thank you,

will log a fault, and no, I'm on Red Bull Mobile and tested my sim on her phone and hers on mine. Fault follows her sim as you said.

By the way, is RBM and Vodacom on the same baseband?

RBM uses Cell C which uses both 2100 and 900 bands for 3G. Vodacom only utilises 2100 band for 3G.

I had the same issue. Turned out it was a network problem. Another dude helped me out. His name was ocleroux... He logged a call on my behalf. He was awesome! :p

Thanks Ockiemoto!

:-)

My call logging rights however been revoked on the system...hence why I asked the OP here to contact 082111

That sucks! So you are prevented from helping others?

This qualifies for the "Then and Now" competition...

Enlighten me... Oh so please!

Dont think it was just mine that was revoked. Think it was for the entire retail/trade channel. Most likely due to people logging dummy calls or logging calls incorrectly etc and therefore creating artificial high work loads. I cant be sure though as reasons were not officially communicated.

That is so sad... The best VDC service I ever got was here from you and VodacomData

It could be the JB rom, read something similar on XDA, search the thread where you got the ROM.

I doubt that it is the rom as other versions on the phone gave the same problem with her sim, but not mine.
