I know this forum is supposed to be for data queries/discussions but I've just got off the phone with the vodacom help desk and they have no idea how to help me. I don't really understand why there is no procedure for them contacting the technical department but there you have it!

A few years ago I ported my number from CellC to Vodacom. Soon after I had problems receiving calls from Telkom landlines and cellc. It was resolved and until a few days ago, all was well. Now, suddenly, I once again cannot receive calls from Telkom landlines. People calling from a landline just get a short beeping sound.

I called the Vodacom helpdesk and their solution was for me to call Telkom! I explained that I can't call Telkom because I'm not a Telkom customer, the problem is between Telkom and Vodacom, not Telkom and me. The poor woman at the helpdesk had no idea what to do, she said she can't call Telkom. I asked to speak to someone from her technical department but she said I couldn't. Finally in her desperation she put me through to data services - obviously they couldn't help me either since it isn't a data issue!

So now I'm trying this forum as I don't know where else to turn (aside from hellopeter, which is a last resort). Hope someone here can assist me! Thanks!

Fault logged to our Port Support. They will log it through to Telkom. It is most likely the routing tabes that is screwy on their side again so their network does not know where to route the call to when someone dials your number on their network. Seems to be a common problem when people port their number.

@ VD.....any idea why this is happening so often? Why does the other networks not update on their side?

Thanks OC, appreciate it.

Strange thing is that I ported my number to Vodacom quite a few years ago.
I think Telkom must have been messing with their routing data for CellC and I got caught in the crossfire or something!

Hi OC, it appears the problem is with both Telkom and CellC - only discovered CellC wasn't working either last night. Guess it's the same problem as in the previous thread

similar problem I think - I can't receive calls from Neotel....when dialling from a Neotel line to my Vodacom number, says number does not exist?

Hi, my situation is exactly the same, transfered few years ago from cell c and when my number is dailed from telkom it jus beeps after the 4 or 5 number. Please help me to solve this

The problem has returned for me too. sigh. I just get a message when calling from a Telkom phone saying 'your call cannot be connected' and that's it.
Haven't tried from cell c yet

You need to log a call with your current provider for them to request a routing update on your line.

Hi All,

I have exactly the same issue, ported from Cell C back to Vodacom. I have logged a call with Vodacom to have it resolved.

I notice that the thread started in 2010 and it is almost five years down the line and these issues still persist, surely it shouldn't be happening.

Thanks and regards,
