I have been using Vodacom's broadband 3G modem for a few years now with very few problems. I have Mac computers and right now I am away in West Africa, I have an excellent wireless connection, I can receive all my email, but no matter what I try, I cannot get my email to send. I have tried all the different port settings I know of to get the SMTP server to connect. Anyone know how to help?

What SMTP server are you using? To cut down on spam, most SMTP servers only allow connections from computers on their own network.
Consider using a secure SMTP server like gmail's, because your email client has to authenticate you can use it from any network.

I use smtp.vodamail.co.za. If I use gmail or something like that, how do I set it up. I have tried doing this with other servers I know, but without success.

Use the smtp relay for whatever ISP you're using there ;)

Gmail has a full step by step tutorial with images on setting it up in every mail client :)
