Hi,

I cannot send mail from iPhone 4s to any email address ending .co.za, get an error: message was rejected by the server.
I can send and receive any other.
I have my own domain with afrihost and using the outgoing mail server, mail.allaboutbrokers.com

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Henk

Mailbox doesn't exist, mailbox is full, relay not allowed, spam/virus detected ...

Sounds like that email address doesn't exist on that server.

It actually does, but the problem is with any .co.za address.....does not make any sense to me

Try another smtp server. Create a gmail account and use its.

i have a gmail acc but cannot find the smtp server settings on gmail. where can i look for it?

Better still - move the domain's email accounts over to google apps - iirc the first ten accounts are free (they keep changing it!).

There is insufficient information to provide accurate diagnostics

Specify EXACTLY your outgoing settings and which network you are on

I am using MTN. Outgoing mail server is from my own domain with Afrihost: mail.allaboutbrokers.com
stried the setting in phone use SSL on and of with same effect
Tried server porsts 25, 465 and 587 (last one default on phone)

SMTP Authentication turned on with same username and password as outgoing?

On your IPhone:

- Go to [Settings]
- Go to [Mail, Contacts, Calenders]
- Select the name of the account which you are experiencing problems sending e-mail from
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen where it says - [Outgoing Mail Server] -> [SMTP]
- Select the name of the Primary Server
- Make sure that there is a username & password for option 2 & 3.
- Generally speaking Authentication should be set to [Password], with the server port set to 587.

I'm not having any such problems using gmail account. Must be a configuration thing.

Thanks that seem to solve the issue Zarathustra! thanks for everyones reply and assitance, much appreciated!

Sure no problemo.

I have often seen this problem when the phone has been setup using the initial automatic setups. Sometimes some critial steps are skipped which results in all the correct configuration settings not having been completed correctly.
