I've been trying for weeks now to update my Blackberry Torch 9810 from 7.0 to 7.1 over-the-air(OTA) on vodacom to no avail. Everytime I try to do a Software Update I get the message "Your Blackberry is up to date". Current version is 7.0.0 Bundle 2406. If I had an ADSL line then I would've downloaded the update on my PC, the closest vodashop/vodacare centre is over 100KM away from where I am and downloading the 200MB+ update file using BIS is prohibited. So clearly my only option is OTA. My question is why can't I update Over-The-Air?

Don't think that feature is enabled in SA.
Also I think its more risky doing it like that, the update file is +- 200mb doing it OTA... I wouldn't.

That's Vodacom BIS for you. Anyway I couldn't download it. Gave up after 2hrs of trying to download and more that 10 download failed errors. Download manager on my phone was saying that the download would take 80hrs to complete.

Why not get a once off data bundle and download on a PC ?

If you install the BlackBerry Desktop software and plug your phone in, it should detect that an update is available. Will be around 150MB or so.
Its actually 281MB. Still trying to download it. Haven't even downloaded Desktop Manager yet. This is going to take way too long, especially since the kids are always playing around with my phone and disrupting the download. Anyway I'll be strong.
