Canon 40D bundle kit

I wouldn't go for the bundled package like that.

The tri-pod looks like junk, and who the hell would use the tele-converter.

Warranty would not be honoured in SA.

I'd rather spend a little more only on items that I REALLY need.
 
What tripod is the best? Isn't a tripod a tripod at the end of the day?
 
Some are more sturdy than others... and just better..
Manfrotto is pretty decent... which reminds me I need to go get a new one soon....
 
Okay so time to be on the look out again! They make these specials seem so great it's hard for the novice to decide.

For something like this, I'd stick with B&H, but if you decide to go with an eBay seller first give them a call just make sure you can make telephone contact with them and to get a feel for the business style.

That eBay store does at least have a good rating.

I actually need a tripod too - my old R200 game special doesn't cut it anymore.

I agree with Frankie - lots of dodgy-looking extras there. That bag doesn't even look like a camera bag. 40D is a great camera though.

No, they're not all the same. I wouldn't say there is a "best" tripod either. It depends what's important to you. I have a $39 Velbon CX-444 and a $485 Gitzo GT 0541 - there's a huge difference.
