bwana, you're better off with the 400D :-)

A colleague of mine received his G9 today. Real nice, camera, but from the few snaps we've taken in the office so far, the noise in lower light situations is comparable to my CyberShot T-100. For interest sake, at ISO 800 not even noise ninja can do much about it...

Its a point and shoot and has all the same limitations of the smaller sensor - that said I have two 400Ds so might as well flog one and get the G9 anyway. :)

I'd hang on to whatever point&shoot I already own, sell the two rebels and get a 5D...

But that's just me :D

I dont have a point and shoot (it's my missus'), they're updating the 5D at some unknown point (hopefully), I'm not ready for it yet, and I probably cant afford all the new the glass even if was.

If it wasn't for the size, I wouldn't still be carrying my CyberShot around. That said, the G9 is way bigger than my cybershot. About twice as thick and 1 or 2 cm higher and wider.

I thought you weren't buying digital-only glass? :)

I am - or rather I have been since my initial purchases but then I dont exactly have an extensive collection. Only one of the two EF lenses I have is an 'L'.

Surely you don't need an L lens for a 5D. You have the plastic fantastic - surely that's much more versatile on a FF camera than on a crop? :D

Speaking of which, did you see the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4? I'm curious to see the price.

Whether I have to have L glass on that camera - I'm not sure.

I have the 50mm and a 70-200 - there are some glaring gaps there both at the wide and telephoto ends.

Havent seen the sigma but then I haven't been looking - I already have a 50 ;)

Murphy's Law . . . my mother just called from NY and just asked if I needed anything from B&H. :o

That's one sweet lens!

I haven't been looking either, just saw it on dpreview's news page.

It's a sign... ;) Speaking of buying stuff, I won an auction on ebay for a 28mm f/2.8 old manual Pentax lens - want to try it on the K100D as a replacement for a 50mm. It's a bit wider than 50mm on FF but not too much. Paid £22 - now I'm just waiting for delivery...
