Canon MX524 Ink Reset

I have a Canon Pixima mx524 and replaced the ink cartridge with a refill/generic cartridge. How do I reset the low ink level indicator as all incoming faxes go straight into the memory as a result.

It did come with a piece of paper with reset instructions but my model was not listed and the instructions did not work. I did phone but the guy did not seem very clued up. Maybe I'll just phone another random refill shop.

i would take the Canon MX524 to the them and ask for them to show me how to reset.
if it does not work get a refund.
