Canon MX880 printer ink levels

I have a MX880 printer, from new its probably printed 20 black and white pages - on grayscale settings.

Yet I've noticed over the past couple of months that all the other cartidges are empting - now all the cartridges are reporting empty - and I have yet to print colour.

These are the initial cartridges that came with the printer, and we've had a few power failures, I'm not sure if thats the cause, but don't want to spend a fortune on new cartridges just to watch the ink dissappear without use.

Anyone have any advice?

I have had the same issue with my Canon printer. The printer is set by default to print grayscale, but somehow the colour tanks are also emptying.... and I very rarely print in colour at all.

Now that they empty, and I'm only still only printing black and white, I keep getting an error saying I could damage the heads, which means I have to get up and walk to the printer to push "I don't give a ****"

Bought the thing in Feb - printed roughly 20 pages, so its definetly not value for money
