Canon SX110 - specs

Had a look - they explain all the terms a bit lower down....

Doesn't look like a half bad camera

But these weird numbers ... ;)

Sensor

• 1/2.3" Type CCD• 9.0 million effective pixels

Lens

• 36-360mm (35mm equiv)
• 10x optical zoom
• F2.8-4.3

Shutter speed
15-1/2500 sec

I know what a shutter is and the speeds ;) But I'd guess 1/2500 sec to be the quickest and what is the highest ? 15 seconds?

// Size of the sensor - > http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/key=Sensor_Sizes

// F2.8 - 3.4 refers to your aperture

Aperture is confusing for everyone - The smaller the number - in this case 2.8 - means the "hole" in your lens is larger and lets in more light to the sensor - the bigger the number means the "hole' in your lens is smaller and lets in less light. It also deals with Depth of field.

For newbies i highly recommend having a look here ->http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials.htm

// your last bit is correct re shutter speed.

Yea I was gonna say I'd rather not buy a camera with holes in the lens ;)

15 seconds? Wow that's pretty cool ;)

Thanks!
