Canon vs Nikon

Probably a difficult question, but which is the better to go for.

I have no specific models in mind (i realize difficult for comparison purposes) but assume the 2 brands each have a camera with virtually identical specs.
Looking to spend up to R15k including a general purpose type lens.

Nice way to try out a few cameras for size, feel and usability before buying.

Spending that sort of money, you really should be 100% certain of what you want to fulflll your needs.

I have a Nikon.
But I realize there are more secondhand lenses ect. available for canon

I have a Canon system, but can't help wondering about the other side. In the end I'll still get the same crappy pics if I don't improve my skills. So the answer is both.

Interestingly I'm currently looking at getting the 7D (new ~R13k), but can't help wonder if the D7000 (new ~R9k) will be a better body, but I have a few Canon lens already........ The full switch over will be too painful for me.
