Hi

First of mods please move this if I`am posting in the wrong section.

I cant ping, telnet or traceroute to any of the sub domains on cybersmart or SAOL network.

196.41.124.222 is used for 40+ mail servers and I cant connect to any of them.

Please if any one can confirm this problem for me.

root@wa-cpt-rancid:~# traceroute 196.41.124.222
traceroute to 196.41.124.222 (196.41.124.222), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

As well as teh SAIX looking glass:

Type escape sequence to abort.

Works from IS looking glass:

  7 cpanel.saol.com (196.41.124.222) [AS 36874] 24 msec 24 msec 24 msec

Could be they are blocking certain IS adsl ips.

Edit: Oh wait you are on VOX?

Do a ping to the ip, you should get a response from the router that can't route to it. Then you will have one of the ips of the router blocking your traffic.

Something like:
Code:
david@davidb-x1:~$ ping 41.61.253.1
PING 41.61.253.1 (41.61.253.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 41.185.0.116 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
From 41.185.0.116 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 41.185.0.116 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

So I can't get to that ip, and the router reporting it has the ip 41.185.0.116

Hi

When pinging from windows (command prompt) I just get request timed out

and from Linux I get nothing

root@edufirewedu:~ # ping 196.41.124.222
PING 196.41.124.222 (196.41.124.222) 56(84) bytes of data.
^C
--- 196.41.124.222 ping statistics ---
189 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 187999ms

I spoke to my account manager at my ISP and he said there is a problem with that IP and they have received a number of queries. Is this possible because from my home I can ping , telnet and browse to that IP and my 3G works but not from here?

Thanks
