Please help me out, I'm not really sure when it comes to things like this as i'm an Android person..

Sister just bought an iPhone 4 from the U.K.. Carphone warehouse sold it to us as 'unlocked' but said the phone would become locked to the first networks sim we put into it. Fair enough, we didnt put an Orange sim in but rather waited until we got back and then bought a VC micro-sim.

Now the phone hasn't been activated or anything, we are currently stuck on the iOS5 welcome screen where you set everything up. After doing the first 4 or 5 steps we get this message

"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier store."

Is there anyway I can jailbreak or do something which will get it to work on VC over here? I'm assuming this means the phone is locked, although I dont know which carrier it is locked to. I didnt know the thing was locked as the guy at Carphone Warehouse said it wouldnt be.

Thanks.

Yeah, you need to jail break it. There is a guide on the forum somewhere...

Oooorrr... you can sell it and buy a Galaxy Note :p

Only place to get an unlocked one from what i understand is from an apple store directly! There is meant to be a jailbreak for the 4s/Ipad2 coming out within the next week, so you may as well wait for that, im not sure if you can do anything else with regards to unlocking it!
