Hi Guys,

May be a stupid question but just got Android phone for the wife so completely new to Android . On the android market website I can install free apps without a problem , but if I choose the paid version of an app , it wont bring up the device to install it onto (device greyed out) . I though it was because no google checkout service existed for the google account so added my credit card etc but still no luck . Am I missing something ?, do I need to set some permision somewhere ?

Regards
Pieter

Ahh Tx , and also boo :( , hope it comes soon , I have an iPhone 4 , but must say I'm kinda jealous of the wife's new baby , some cool features I would have loved on the iPhone :)

If you root your phone you cab get an app that enables you to purchase from the market. Alternatively if you have a Sim from another country you pop it in and use wifi you can purchase as well. The prominent country Sims I know of that work are USA, uk, and oz. I'm sure some other European countries work as well

Tx for the advice , I will be going to Malaysia in April and will most likely bring back a sim from there , any idea if that might work as well ?

If you are in Durban I've got a spare oz Sim you can have. Google the country to check not sure. Wikipedia has a listing of countries as well.

I really would have liked to convince my wife to also go Android. But she seems to be addicted to the "fuit" now. And stock shortages on the iphone4 does not put her off either ;-(

i would love to buy some apps myself but been told i need to root first

I guess I'm lucky that my wife (who was a former apple fan...er...girl) now detests the fruity phones. She can't wait to get her hands on her first droid... Roll on June! :p
