Problem:
I’m unable to connect to the network & internet. (Limited or no connectivity). This Started on Friday 11 July. Did a full system scan (Trend Micro); Uninstalled Nic’s & reinstalled, Updated BIOS; Changed Router to Manual IP address assigning & back again.

• ADSL Router is in working order (I’m able to connect to the Network & Internet with other PC’s)
• Network cables (In working order, double checked each cable)
• Router Assigns automatically IP Addresses (10.0.0.100 Starting Range)
• This is my network connection details

Physical Address: 00-1B-FC-A3-FD-5B
IP Address: 169.254.218.105
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway:
DNS Server:
WINS Server:

Physical Address: 00-1B-FC-A3-F3-D0
IP Address: 169.254.188.20
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway:
DNS Server:
WINS Server:

• Used IPCONFIG to release & renew my IP Addresses. After still the same IP

Any help or advice PLZ

did it perhaps happen right after a windows update? i heard something about an update that stops your network card from working or something

Immediately from your 169.254.x.x IP address I can see that you are not connected to your router. Try the following: Go to your MAC table on your router and add your MAC address (Physical Address: 00-1B-FC-A3-FD-5B or Physical Address: 00-1B-FC-A3-F3-D0, whichever you use to connect to your router). Then go to your IP address allocation and allocate a static IP to your MAC address (as entered above). This should work.

Learned so much about IP's in the process

After so much wasted time, ipconfig /release, restart PC & ADSL Router, everything working 100%......:):)
