I'm trying to connect to the iBurst hub using ShakesPeer on my mac.

I am using the address ibust-za.kicks-ass.net on port 20891, but it just sits perpetually at "connecting..."

I've tried active and passive mode.

I'm behind a firewall, which seems to have port 20891 unreachable. Will unblocking this port solve things?

What are the rules for this hub?

are you sure you used the right address?

ibust-za.kicks-ass.net:20891

Rule is you have to share at least 9gigs... and the usual.

Well first try accessing any other hub, say the normal za hub just to test your DC++ clients setup. The adress is the.joint.za.net

If you can access that you should be able to get into the iBurst hub.

Okay I got it working! Now I just need to let it hash my music.

Over a network.

How long is this gonna take to reach 9GB?

It can take a pretty long time. I normally let my first hash run overnight. Might be coz my computer is crap though.

Either way I suspect yoiu will only enjoy the benefits of the hub at the end of next month.

I used to use it all the time, worked great on P2P, but a while ago they cancelled the free accounts or they only worked half way through the month or something, so i stopped. Apparently they are back now though.

Try looking for the thread on it, you just have to sign up and get a user name and password that you use for the socks/proxy.

And btw, 9GB hash doesnt take ver ylong at all if you have a okay PC.

Well okay will look into them.

I'm running an iBook G4 1GHz, but it's on battery power and over a 102.11b network so it's going to take a while ;)

Yes. omg you have 20 minutes. Quickly, disconnect. btw, some of your data can be carried over to next month if you keep the same IP over into the 1st, so its always good, just to be safe, to disconnect before midnight.

I switched off the main machine, the one that connects to the router wirelessly, and disconnected the modem from the router between 23h50 and 00h15. First thing I checked was bandwidth. It was all there.

I chekced my bandwidth my. 16mb already.. I hadnt even surfed more than 2 pages. I didnt play a bit of Warcraft 3 from after 12 for about 2 hours, but I still think somethign got through from yesterday...

I only signed up on 28/09, and got 1GB to use for September.

I was expecting it only to be reset end of October, but they reset it so now I have another GB. Nice hey?

It would be nice if they carried all unused bw over to the next month...

anyhow I got me the damn cap of death so couldn't access **** all till yesterday 10am :(

so I just left it.

Well one nice thing with that COD is that if they do buy you an extra gig just before the end of the month you can carry that over.

I could have started last month with almost 4GB due to that. But i burned it instead..

What is this cap of death you speak of?

It's the 2nd of the month and I'm already at 90% of my cap... lol.

Well cap of death or death by cap, its were when you get capped browsing and email will not work. You can apparently get g-mail to work if you use the https service, as https still works.

Everything else will work, i.e. Gaming, MSN, P2P pinging sites etc.
You need to phone the helpdesk to sort it out, but its alot easier to speak to someone higher up who will acknowledge the problem.

It pretty much sucks but it can be fixed almost instantly most times and you might get a free gig out of it, and possibly also remain uncapped at 1mb for the rest of the month or atleast a few days.. this is strange but it happened first to me and now also to a friend last month.

Okay I'm having a problem again.

Whenever I try to connect, it immediately says "Disconnected from hub". I am connecting to ibust-za.kicks-ass.net:20891. Using shakespeer in passive mode.

I've reset the modem several times. How do I fix this?

HI, I am using Shakespeer and I can connect to the hubs but when I do a file search, I can't see anything, or any of the other users. I am connecting in passive mode, as I am doing it from uni.

ANy answers? Is it a proxy setting? Or, is software incompatibilty with Snow Leopard (witht he exact same settings, I never had any problems with my old Mac)
