Can't connect to UK VPN on Rain

Hi,

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the UK on Rain LTE? My work hosts a VPN in the UK and suddenly today I can't connect. When I try connecting over my phone it works fine.
 
Hi @rain_mobile,

Is it possible to find out why it would have been terminated? I am not aware of any abuse of acceptable use. Link is solely used for work, which does not include transferring massive amounts of data.

Yes they have been doing this for years now left rain due to throttling and blocking VPNs which have legit use for work
 
@rain_mobile is Rain able to confirm which VPN protocols you are blocking? Interestingly my OpenVPN service now also does not function on your network - required to access remote service used for legit purposes.

Some other OpenVPN services are working though...so seems IP address blocking is also in place on the RAIN network?

Telkom LTE I’d say or MTN depending on your usage requirements

Telkoms 2TB is great for those who are heavy data users even the uncapped speed limited plans

Also is there fibre in your area ?
 
Following further feedback, it seems to me the only option is to stay away from RAIN as internet access and standard protocols are not all supported, and RAIN cannot clarify which are supported and which are not.

Thanks. I'll get a Telkom SIM and try them out.

There is fibre in the area, but not yet in our complex.

Fibre would be best if you can convince the complex to allow for it

Since you have fibre LTE shouldn’t be too congested

For a lower end user for Netflix and such I’d recommend the speed capped unlimited packages

Higher usage users go for the 2TB deal (2TB data with rollover )

Not sure WTF is going on at RAIN but I now can't access some websites or even play games online. What's going on over there?!
 
What is the point of still blocking VPNs? That made sense when they were still throttling video streaming to extremely low resolutions and you had to use VPNs to bypass it. That has since been removed any you can watch whatever at 4k. Bitorrent also seems to be no longer throttled since end of last year. I still have a working VPN but I don't use it since they lifted the restrictions I just mentioned.
