Can't Delete Mail In Microsoft Outlook

I have recently got the problem of not being able to delete mail in my inbox, it allows me to delete the new messages but not the old ones. Come's up with the message "This messaging interface has occured an unknown error, please restart outlook" Restarting does not help.

Does anyone know what to do?
