Cant even get a telkom line :(

We recently moved into a complex in meyersdal in alberton. The complex has been there for over a year and a half.
When phoning telkom to get an telephone line / adsl line installed, i get told "Your complex doesn't exist..."
Apon telling them that in fact the complex does exist because I live in it, i get told to that i need to provide them with a landline number of someone in the complex... The issue is that there are around 6 different people in the complex trying to get a telephone line installed and they are all being told the same thing... no one to date has managed to even get a telkom line installed.

Now most people would say "get 3G, HSDPA, Iburst, neotel, etc" the reality is that adsl is by far the cheapest and I am a WOW gamer... yeah.. the withdrawls :`(

Does anyone know of anyone that I can contact to try and get this sorted out?
Telkom has wired up a telkom box in the complex and there is a central telkom box on the corner of the street, i have the box numbers for both of them.

Shame man,

I had the same problem with Telkom. Moved into a complex that had just been built. Took them 6 months to install the box for the complex; 6 months after that they still didn't believe our complex was there.

My solution was to move Although Telkom wasn't the only reason for my move.

Im having the same problem man, lucky for me I know someone in telkom. What you can do it get the erf number and give that to telkom also.

What intercom system do you have on the main gate? If it is linked to Telkom (mircom etc), then you have won....
Telkom barely know what they are doing at the best of times.

It's the stand number for your property

you can use the Joburg website to find it
I use ( http://ims.joburg.org.za/joburg/viewer.aspx)

You'll need to get Telkom the township name i.e. NORTHCLIFF EXT.23
And the stand number i.e. 2000/00

The body corporate of your complex should be able to give it to you aswell.

I have the same problem. My complex is about 3 years old and I have managed to let Telkom know where it is but getting them to install the lines from the box that is right by the game up to my house is nearly impossible. I ordered it October 2007 and its not August 2008. I use to play WoW as well. Tried Iburst for 2 months bit that was a disaster. Iburst has bot the worste service and is more unreliable than anything I have ever come across. So I had to stop gaming online all together. I could not even get WiMax.

I am trying to find out if Telkom will help me if I just have the line installed privately right up to the Telkom box outside my gate.

Good luck with this. It sucks to have to give up WoW after 3 years.
