I recently purchased Openview decoders with intention to be able to record certain programs as advewrtised by " Openview ". However, the dedicated memory sticks are unavailable. How does one then use theser decoders ?.

I assume its just a regular USB drive, and I assume it uses a certain file system (Ext4, exFAT etc.)

Maybe someone can shed some light about this.

Normal USB stick won't work has some sort of software included. Have you tried PEP, Pick & Pay, HiFi corp, Incredible connection, Makro, Checkers Hyper etc? They all sell the decoders.

Hi , these flash drives are indeed " dedicated " - one can only use the sticks provided by Openview. They have blocked the use of a standard USB flash drive by installing software. Which is the reason i am so incensed at their cavalier attitude when I approached them with the problem of not being able to obtain the sticks , firstly from the retailer ( PEP stores ) I purchased them from , and then from any of the alternative vendors they recommend. I enquired at Openview by email ( 2 letters ) the last no response. The ability to use these devices is one of their major marketing ploys yet they cannot honour this facility. No attempt on their part to offer any sort of solution !! Must I now bin these decoders and go to DSTV ??

Not sure if this is still the case but I bought one about 2 years ago. The recordings were very choppy and jumpy. I tried recording a few times but eventually gave up as I couldn't watch the recording like that. I still have it plugged in to the deocder but not really using any longer.
