Can't receive MTN SMS, but can send

Hi.

The off-spring received a new Android phone with an MTN SIM for Christmas. It can make and receive calls, and it can send SMSs, but it can't receive SMSs from other networks.

Anybody know what could be the problem?

EMPTY-N is the problem.
That network is just as bad as rain.
