Cant study during the day... HELP

I also find evenings is the best time to revise or prepare for the next day
You can study immediately after class or an hour later but I am not usually motivated if it was a boring or tiring class.

After class your mind is still mulling things over what was said in the class so I see no problem with not studying in the day.

You need to live healthy and clean. So if you eat junk food at lunch and only in the evening you have a healthy meal it might explain why you can't study between lunch and dinner. A shower helps too.

You need to live healthy

Ya, that's another thing. After class each day (around 4pm) I hit the gym for about 90minutes. It really helps clearing your mind and boosting that mental focus and concentration!

I usually remember stuff I understand. So if I understood a concept it is very hard for me to forget it again. Takes a few years of never thinking about it to dwindle, but is pretty much back instantly when someone starts explaining it to me again. I used to help tutor my friend's sister in physics and I was quite surprised at how much I remembered 6 years out of school and never touching a physics book again

But there's a difference studying physics and studying things like law, politics, languages, education, psychology all of which I've done till at least second year level.

I'm not saying physics is easier. AMOF it's more difficult depending on where you go with it, but different fields take different approaches to study them well.

loooool.

I busy writing exams right now, writing my final paper tomorrow for bcom accounting, hopefully do well enough to get into honors! I find there is never a good time for me to study but i definitely study better in the evenings, so what i do is i try to get a couple hours in the morning and afternoon, otherwise i just do my thing! Then in the afternoon just before supper(from about 5to6) i sleep and then im able to study from about 7 till 1 in the morning. On a day like today, being the day before my exam i will study till latest 10:30 be asleep by 11(no afternoon nap today), and then wake up at about 5:45 to review my notes. Go over a few things i struggle with etc.

I cant do the whole study throughout the semester, as an accounting student, we have 4 subjects, 3hours of lectures per subject a week, 1.5hour tutorial where we sit and do an unseen question per subject per week, and we have to hand in each week an assignment per subject(consisting of normally about 2 to 3hours of exercises). So that keeps me busy, the one thing i do find that saves me at the end of the year is my note making skills, by exam time we have written two tests which i have made notes for while preparing for each test, so all i have to do is update my notes on a few chapters and then im ready for the exam, granted accounting and tax and management accounting is a lot of practice as well, but all have there fair share of theory!

Use noise canceling headphones + white noise. This blocks out all sound :D

I also struggle to study during the day, thus I get up at 3-4am and study till 8am and / or study at night from about 6/7pm to 11 am.

Same here. It's much easier to understand something, recall key points & extrapolate from that.

I use to study by summarisation to key concepts words. Write it by hand, dont type it. You will be amazed how much information you can cram onto a double sided page. Understanding is key though, if you don't understand stuff you are fooked. Just like you I payed attention in class, asking question so I understood the subject matter. I also did my assignments even though you did not have to hand them in, it's called practice and that trains your brain.

I never really studied hard, kept my summaries and come end of semester finals I would get some exam papers from previous years and do them in conjunction with my summaries.

The above works well in a technical environment (eng/science), not so sure it would work as well in a field like law, sociology, literature etc

The 3 most important things are discipline, discipline, discipline. You should be able to put your ass down to study ANYTIME. Excepting of course external factors like work, other people in your house's routines etc.

Yeah, I don't study by day... cause I work. Maybe get a job during the day then and study by night. And leave full-time studies. And do Unisa. Or just study and stop complaining.

Try using the pomodoro technique. It helps during the day especially with all the distractions, you learn to postpone a distraction until after your 25 minute session.
