Hi guys,

Pleeeease help if you can. I've set up Nokia PC Suite on my XP laptop and purchased a data bundle on Vodacom prepaid. The phone connects with the laptop, but can't establish an internet connection. It says the network settings is wrong & I get Error 720 from Windows when I try to connect through dial-up.

I called 155 three times and got the same instructions every time - which obviously didn't work.

Anyone experience similar problems or have a solution 4 me?

Thanks

Zee

Try and get the settings for WAP sent to you from Vodacom using *111# and then the green button. Reply with 5 for "device set up". That should set your phone & SIM up for access on device. Now check if you can browse using your E71 browser.

If that works then connect with the USB cable to your PC and PC Suite. Use the PC Suite" mode on the phone.

On your PC, configure the modem as "Nokia 71" and set the network operator as "Vodacom South Africa". All the complex settings will be done for you.

Let us know what happens.

Thanks, Sackboy

I've done everything upto the point of configuration. Where exactly would I do that? Under Pc suite's one touch access or the dial-up connection under network connections?

also, under phone n modem options and modems tab I've entered the initialization command given 2me as at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet" but when pc suite is runnning, the command changes to +CGDCONT=,,"internet".

Don't know if that info is useful.

I didn't have to do any config in PC Suite apart from clicking on one-touch and telling it what phone I'm using and selecting Vodacom from a looooong list. Don't need to click "configure manually".

What version are you using?

I did that, but still the same. It doesn't ask my phone model though, only which modem to use and I select Nokia GSM phone.

Using version 6.86.9.4

The easiest way would be to run it, then see "File/Web/Settings/Help" (on my version anyway) at the top. Click on "Web" , and then underneath, click on "Check for updates and addons".

Thanx for all the help, sackboy. I did the update, even installed a file microsoft suggested but to no avail. I think I'm gonna pass on using the phone as a modem.

Too frustrating...
