This weekend just saw the passing of the Canthan New Year festivities in Guildwars - of course the hunt was on for the Celestial Ox mini-pet - which according to the wiki had a 0.33% drop rate from the Fortunes.

I got lucky - very first fortune I clicked on dropped me one :D

Did anyone else have any luck?

Lol, was not on this weekend.

Guessing it is now to late to get one :p

Also were there special item drops from random enemies? And if there were till when is going to be dropping?
 
As far as I know it ends midnight EST (23:59 on Sunday)(Pacific Coast) - ... I'm not sure what time exactly that would be for us ... my guess is that it's passed already.

Enemies dropped lunar tokens - which you could hand in by collectors at Shing Jea. I didn't see anything else dropping.

Lol, damn its 430am monday there :(

(they are SA time -7 hours)
 
I ran around the Monastery/Kamadan on 4 characters... amassed 224 or so tokens, no pet... just lots of sweets and fireworks :(

Raptor farming works best IMO for getting random drops.

You also get a couple of golds and some nice Asuran points :)
 
Yay =D I had enough Lunar Tokens for 13 Fortunes and on my last fortune I got the mini =D

I've yet to explore the Asuran areas (currently in the Charr homelands getting vanguard rep on my Derv (main))
 
I went in with a plan this weekend.

I was gonna farm my ass off to finish my Party title and afk the Rings of Fortune when I'm not farming to further my Lucky and Unlucky titles.

First I had a look what would be the best way to farm to get the most party items. From my calculations and investigations, it happened to be from Red Gift bags at a cost of 5 tokens each.
You have a +-60% chance to get 3 items of each different party item - Sparkler, Popper or a Rocket. The other 40% is either 100g, 10 tokens, or 2 different sugar items and a booze item.

So, I ran 14 chars (incl my mules) through the festival quests and amassed +-2100 tokens (150 tokens / char), which I all traded for Red Gift Bags = 420 Red Gift Bags.

I ended up with +-650 Red Gift Bags = 103 bags from doing the 3-hour Ox main meal events and I bought 127 bags as well.
Oh, and 44 crates of fireworks too!

From these I have more than enough to max Party, finally, it's been plaguing me for several events now. And I refused to buy the stuff at people's exorbitant prices. :D

Anyway, why I started posting was not that I wanted to get the Ox specifically, due to Lunar Fortunes being worthless otherwise, especially since I was on such a specific mission for Party - I just ended up buying one in-game for 25k. :)

And yes, festival is still ongoing atm, it finishes at 10pm and I'm on the rings till then! :D
 
Opened about 600 fortunes before I got my mini. Was pretty pissed off when I saw for how cheap they were going. Could have spent the tokens on bags instead.
 
Yes, that's what I was reckoning, dakeyras. They would be easy to get and relatively cheap.

The amount of Ox's around I don't really think that 0.33% is very accurate as a drop rate. You are the highest number I have heard of to open 600 Fortunes before getting an ox. :eek:
I have heard of people opening batches of 60 at a time and getting at least 1 if not 3 ox's. I was in such a district last night, where not one opened more than 100 and got, at the very least, 1 ox.

People were talking about gimmicks like going outside of town and opening it in an area, in case it effects the drop rate. Just heresy as far as I am concerned though...

Some of the guys above stated also very low numbers to get an ox. Maybe we will see a redux to collect some ox's again. :D
