CAP - How long after disconnect b4 cap comes into effect ?

I was busy surfing, noting that I was about to reach 24 hours solid connectivity, when my connection went down - smoothwall beeps when it disconnects or reconnects (quite a useful feature)

I immediately reconnected - that was 30 minutes ago.
My usage meter still reads 2.9442 GB for the month and yesterday hasn't been recorded yet - reckon I made 1.5 GB extra.

I have to go to work just now - so unfortunately, I won't be able to see exactly how long it will be before I actually get capped.

I'm hoping I'll get through another entire day - but I have my doughts ! :)

I've setup temp external access to my smoothwall from where I can login into my slackware box to check :D
 
You will be able to go through the whole day, exept if you disconnect / reconnect. But even then you might get another day. Too bad its the end of the month. Just make sure you disconnect before the 1st of April.
 
If it records you as having used 2.999999999 GB after a session reset it gives you another 24 hour session to rape and pillage the internet.

Personally I always don my viking helmet during a session reset for good luck.

It's pretty odd the way it works - the old method indicated that 24 hours is all you can get out of it.

I reckon you can get 36 hours or more - just a matter of timing.

Well, that's the thing you see - Yesterday morning I was on 2.9442, downloaded the whole day and through the night and was disconnected this morning.

That would imply that I've already done the Viking Bit.
So now do I get to be a Saxon and do the same thing all over again ? :D

I just checked my usage again here at work, with my username of [email protected] and password of imwithstupid and it's still registering the 2.9442

First of all, posting your username and password on a forum is NOT a good idea. I'd suggest you change your password ASAP!!!

...That happened to me last month from the 8'th to the 14'th. Managed 31 gig before they pulled the plug. Funny thing is the usage displayed correctly each day, they just didn't cap :)

It reminds me of that bloke who posted a scan of his credit card on some forum - only that wasn't a joke.

I felt like making a bogus one and posting it on the same forum to see what would happen !


anyway, still on 2.9442 GB, which confirms that you can actually get away with close on 2 days of being a Viking and not just 24 hours !
 
Yip me too! I downloaded another 3G yesterday :D After the 2.999GB for the rest of the month!

Real value for money!

I think that every ADSL member on this forum should DL atleast 3GB on the day that they get capped ;) Get some value out of our expensive ADSL... (Until Telkom drops the line charge 1/5 :p )
