The 3 Gig cap is not required to protect users from P2P apps.

Port prioritisation works by giving some ports higher priority, right.
Something like this:
7 people , 3 using HTTP and4 using P2P.
on a conventional dial-up its first come first serve but with port prioritisation HTTP is prioritise over P2P so this would happen.

If 6 people were using P2P
P2P P2P P2P P2P P2P P2P
and a 7th person popped in using HTTP this would happen.

If no one is using HTTP all the P2P users would be serve by first come first serve.
Ok the obove diagram is very simplified but you can see the picture.
Telkoms ADSL service prioritises HTTP/FTP/SMTP , so P2P users must wait for surfers, ftp and http downloads/uploads and e-mail.
So if you try use a P2P app during peak hours you would get useless downloads , so its not worth it.

OK, Telkom has always said there is a 3 gig cap...but the port prioritisation is not mentioned when you sign the dotted. Either the cap or the port prioritisation must go.
