So yesterday I got home switched the pc on, connected to the net and nothing  So I tried this procedure a few times and nothing, the connection said I'm connected but the browser said something else. So I decided to call iBurst (I'm a Nowire client) and was told that I need to purchase more bandwidth to be able to connect to the internet

I'm on the old 9.5gig package and my understanding is that I would be throttled to 64k irrespective of how many gigs I've downloaded, correct? Well I tried to explain this to the consultant, but no you must purchase the bandwidth to connect again to the internet:sick:

Well I was flabbergasted to say the least, cut the call, switched the pc off and disconnected the ethernet cable. Got my usb cable, downloaded the latest drivers and i'm connected now.

So my fellow ibursters can you please clarify this cap issue for me b'cos I did buy 100mb shortly before a globe lit up (that the ethernet card was shot)i.e. if I did 20gigs on a 9.5gig package each month for say three months would my 64k throttle be removed?

Thank you all in advance :)

No it should still be throttled irrespective of how much you download each month, sounds like they are trying another money making scheme on you :( cause if you changed over to the newer cheaper packages (not sure if you have since you said 9.5 gig package which afaik doesn't exist anymore) then you either get PPU or the throttling so either way you would still be able to connect

Thanks for that S1ght :). I thought as much, well it's expected from the iBurst support centre:sick:and says a lot for iburst itself (where's that iBurst rep now?)

that's the Bull**** their support keeps telling anyone regarding their 64k throttle... the last time THEY had a authentication issue I phoned in they told me my 64k wouldn't let me surf the inet because it's throttled and I CANNOT BROWSE ANY website (including iburst.co.za) and I would have to buy more bandwidth... Needless to say I told the guy to go fek himself, and hung up the call. Waste of good 10 min of my airtime for them to tell me **** like that...

I had a similiar conversation shortly after I got my iBurst contract. I even got up to their sales department before the registered there was a problem.

In short. It appeared to be yet another case of call centre agents not being skilled up with company products.

I do see that iburst changed their contract over the past few years. Look at http://iburst.co.za/default.aspx?link=packages_payperuse
In short. When getting a new contract it is capped with disconnect. You have to opt out the have it capped with throttle. Mine is an old contract and was setup as throttle.
