Just a quick question.

I just reached my 5Gig cap and what was left over from Jan.

Do I have to request the throttled 65k service through the call centre to get the service?

I am still getting full speed even though I reached my cap. Problem is I dont want to get a hefty bill at the end of the month as I did not buy any boosters or the throttled 64k service.

Will iBurst bill me separately for the data i used at normal speed after I reached my cap i.e R59.00/Gig

The throttling system might be broken but it would be best to wait for a response from an iburst rep

you must be one lucky person, zero cap and still not trottled. I have 5.5g still ans trottled to 80kps

I never used to get through my 3Gigs until I found torrents this month.

I was upgraded to Wireless5 so I had 5Gigs left from Jan + the 5 for Feb and I went through all 10gigs mostly on torrents. Catching up on series that I missed or are not yet available here.

If the speeds can increase and the caps get bigger or even uncapped, I will be cancelling the DSTV soon. Wont miss the HD that much and not really into the sports.

I am currently averaging between 30kbs and 40kbs downloads on utorrent.

He must be on your account. I think that's why the system unthrottles sometimes, it must be logged in as someone else. Better watch those 5.5GBs :)

There are no extra bills as Pay per use has been discontinued since the instatement of the new wireless packages.

The throttled 64kb/s throttle service is available immediately on Wireless 5 and above and on Wireless 1 and above from March 1. You can dial the call centre and go through to sales.

We’ve also introduced:
Uncapped Anytime @ 64 kbps
If you choose a 5Gig package or upward, you can choose to pay an additional flat rate of R199 per month, and you’ll get unlimited internet access once your package data is finished, but at slightly slower speeds of up to 64kbps.

I was personally enjoying the slow cappedness...

Does this mean we now have to pay more for our free ultra-slow internet, or not... ?

Official comment would be nice :p

Aaah - Ok....

I'm used to only hearing official iBurst stuff from the iBurst-named User :)

Do you work for iBurst, or just know alot about them? :)

On a totally unrelated note, one satellite repositioning later changed my max speed from 30kb/s (Permanently in the red :|) to average speed of 70 - 80kb/s (The odd yellow :D) - Did it about 2 hours ago - Life's Good :D

Finally been throttled. I bought the 1Gig booster through the website for R59.00.

Now to finally cancel the DSTV as I just watched Fringe S02E04 on the HD channel and the signal breakup was so bad I could not watch it finish and the weather was excellent in CT when it was recording.

Even if it takes a while to download a 350MB episode, the quality would be much better than what I am getting from DSTV and not to mention that DSTV has started to moderate me on their forum for complaining about their lack of customer care and response time on their own forum.

So I have an extra R550.00 every month for more data and would be prepared to pay R800.00 pm for full speed uncapped iBurst. I dont have telkom in my area so I'm pretty much forced to go with iBurst and have not had a single problem since being with them, except for shapping of torrents.

Torrents in a wireless environment are an issue with contention and arbitration. Would it make a difference if the throttle was bumped up a bit during 12am to 6am?

I predict another money making VAS as soon as Jannie sees this.
