Hi guys getting my VOIP line set up.

I'm not used to the standard dial tone linksys gives, so I'm going to change it to the Cape Town dial tone.

Does anyone know the script for Cape Town's dial tone?

The closest I've come for Cape Town's dial tone is reading this "The Cape uses 400 Hz for 0.5 followed by silence for 0.5, repeated as above."

However I can't seem to make any sense of that.

I have the script for Jo'burg 400@-30,400@-30;4(2.5/0.5/1) but it doesn't want to work.

Can somebody help?

Thanks

I wasn't even aware that dial tones differed across South Africa! Learn something every day.

This is taken from Asterisk Indications file, which I know used to work, you will need to figure out if the Cape is using the Alcatel switch or Siemens switch and then use the figures accordingly :

description = South Africa
ringcadance = 400,200,400,2000

; dial/ring/callwaiting for the Siemens switches:
; dial = 400*33
; ring = 400*33/400,0/200,400*33/400,0/2000
; callwaiting = 400*33/250,0/250,400*33/250,0/250,400*33/250,0/250,400*33/250,0/250

; dial/ring/callwaiting for the Alcatel switches:
; dial = 383+417
; ring = 383+417/400,0/200,383+417/400,0/2000
; callwaiting = 383+417/250,0/250,383+417/250,0/250,383+417/250,0/250,383+417/250,0/250

congestion = 400/250,0/250
busy = 400/500,0/500
dialrecall = 350+440
