Cape Town Mayhem

Here's the irony of this: They're striking for an extra R30 month (R360 a year) yet they've lost about R1500/month (or whatever their monthly salary is).
 
These piepols are angry! and do I enjoy it.

The ANC has promised them everything. The "main manne" took all they could get. What? if anything has changed in twelve years for the "grass roots" piepols. The WARKERS are still as poor as they have ever been.

Wait and see what is going to happen the moment Madiba passes away. Then the Madiba ANC will be gone. Then we might have proper politicks in this country.

So the piepols are angry. What do they do? Exactly what their fatcats tought them to do from the 40's. Toy-Toy and trash everything. Get everything that it look the same as the "townships". Then they are happy. Whether it is municipalities, Universities or anything you don't agree with, you trash break and loot. Their idea of civilization.

I always thought that part of a civilized nation means to control your emotions. The piepols are angry. Trash and loot. Make your own judgement.
 
I knew it, just heard a SATAWU dude on 702, he said it was not during the main march, it was outside influence (destabalising people from some third force) and according to them it all happened after the march officially ended.

Lier scum.
 
It could be true, wouldnt be surprised if it was ANC people trying to make the srtikers even angrier and get them to join them ona nice rampage to show how unstable things are when you kick the ANC out.

You know this is exactly how Hitler invaded the rest of Europe before World War II, he would send a bunch of Nazi's (ANC) into surrounding countries (CPT) and causes riots etc. then say the situation is unstable and they have to take power themselves because thye dont want this for the people.
ANC is going to start saying the same thing soon, that Zille cant rule Cape Town because its obviopusly not what the people want and they are rioting, taxi violence etc..

I dont expect them to do anything!

If they dont want to do the job, then they dont have to do it.

They may well not be getting paid what they want, but 'striking' like this is not going to make anyone sympathetic to their cause.
Pity those bullets the police were using were rubber.

...it's not that far off actually, they seem to have their own brand of 'national socialism'.
 
socialism doesn't work. it causes more problems. the reason they want socialism is that the gravy train is a little bigger than in the case of capitalism.

I want New Socialism. Capitalism and Socialism go hand in hand - can't have one without the other. This government is ideally placed for New Socialism - if they would actually DO something - and pay attention to the world around them - instead of their own tiny comfortable worlds.

SECURITY guards, which as per job description much PROTECT stuff, goes and TRASHES the things they are meant to PROTECT... :rolleyes:

So if you guys, those of you in the IT section of your company’s go on strike? You think if it lasts for 1 month, the economy can cope?
 
Oh I wasnt comparing them the Nazi's at all. Just saying the tactic seems to be similar, well if the ANC are behind any of this or even trying to stoke the coals here. Which I am shure they could be quite capable of..

Based on what I saw on Tuesday, I think there may be a little bit of truth to the idea that there was a destabilising force. For example, what the heck does Zille have to do with the security guards' dispute? Nothing, right? If she has nothing to do with it, then how do we explain anti-Zille posters seen at the march?

I walked into the firing line on Tuesday, quite literally. I was going down the road to buy a newspaper. I was walking through the lobby of my building, and I was at the entrance when one of the security guards from my building (who are not on strike, and have been wearing civilian clothing for weeks) screamed "Debbie, get back inside now!!".

I looked up through the glass doors and saw a line of policemen and women with guns drawn. Next thing, they started shooting rubber bullets. I heard screaming. Two caspars came into view. Police started moving backwards in a line, guns firing away. Then the protestors caught up, and swarmed past.

I went back up to my apartment, and a few minutes later back down onto the streets, and I followed the tail end of the protestors. Intersections blocked off. Cop cars everywhere. The only traffic on the roads was the thousands of people - protestors, joined by office workers, city residents, shop workers.

Every so often, gun shots (rubber bullets) went off or a stun grenade would go off. More smoke, noise and screaming. Battlefield 2 training would take over in my head when I heard shots (which were fired in my direction), and I would hide behind the nearest pillar or wall. But I think the shots were too far ahead to really be of any danger to me, but it was fun anyway. It was like Ctrl+Z-ing in real life.

Lots of sticks, branches and metal rods lying in the streets. Every car on Buitenkant and Roeland had been smashed in. Most shops along the way had had at least one window smashed in, but I saw no looting at all in this area.

Patches of blood in the roads every couple of meters. Lots of cops. Lots of cop cars. Lots of sirens. Lots of arbitrary items of clothing strewn in the streets - caps, shirts, shoes etc. Many people with minor injuries, one guy I saw had obviously been hit in the head with a rubber bullet. Looked like a hit from a paint-ball gun - neat round bruise on the forehead.

Never seen anything like this before, not even when Wits students went rampaging in 2004.
