Just heard on KFM there's been a fault on the main power lines between CT and Gauteng, so Eskom has begun load shedding again. The condition is "Orange"

Can I confirm this online anywhere?

Just had a thought... Why doesn't Eskom syndicate this kind of information through a rss feed?

Confirmation on http://www.poweralert.co.za

Condition is Brown. Usually it is on Orange during the day.

The Brown Power Alert (as currently shown) indicate that power interruptions are affecting certain areas, and that it may escalate to a total power interruption in the Cape. Residential consumers are requested to switch off all appliances except their TV and the lights of the room they are in.

Help to avoid more interruptions.

Please switch off all appliances except the TV and the lights of the room you are in.

Please switch off all appliances except the TV? Wtf do they think we're american?

So that you can see the power level indicator.

/switches on Geyser, Pool, opens freezer door, cranks ups the heater and switches on ALL lights in his gauteng house. - In fact, cranks up heater and puts it inside the freezer - Take that, Kappies!/

:D

What does being American have to do with anything?

Fanie Zulu from Eskom was on Cape Talk earlier saying that it is what eskom described as the 'orange' scenario. The strange thing he said was that Eskom was able to handle the load till about 9am (just after peak) and for some reason during offpeak time eskom is now unable to handle the load (maybe the load generator can only work for like 3 hours at a time).

So I think Eskom is lying to us again. Who knows what is really going on.

Definition of an American: Fat, stupid

Natural habitat: Infront of TV

Known causes of death: TV not working

Elementary :/

South African (Capetonian): needs TV to see power consumption

Us Jo'burger are intelligent enough to avoid power cuts ;)

Dunno, maybe the problem isn't so great. We were scheduled to go out between 12h00 and 14h30 and no cuts yet...
EDIT: Eskom has restored the fault. No more load shedding...for now
