Noop, only know that some parts of town are out (not sure how much). Century City out as well from what I hear. We're fine here in the Northern Suburbs.

Cape Town – A municipal blackout plunged Cape Town into darkness on Wednesday morning, just after 11:00.

Capetonians from around the Peninsula were left without power. News24 received reports from the following areas: Goodwood, Rondebosch, Parow, Milnerton, Hazendal, Woodstock, Observatory, Plumstead, Newlands, Westlake, Glencairn, Mowbray, Rocklands and Salt River.

"I work in the Civic Centre in the CPT CBD and we're in complete darkness. Needless to say, no one's complaining!" Samora Jwabi said via Facebook.

"Stuck in a restuarant in Canal Walk. Can't draw cash, can't use the cards...." user Gavin McJannet said.

"Perfect timing! Power went out after I inserted my atm card. Now i'm stuck in town with zero cash on me," said Stephen James Williams.

"No power in Glencairn. Just in time for me to catch up on all the work I missed yesterday for procrastinating on the beach most the day!" said Adele Kendall.

Eskom could not provide News24 with further information.

The Muldersvlei-Acacia 400 kV line from Koeberg failed.
I was driving in the Richwood area earlier today at about 11:20am and
witnessed a dark blue ESKOM chopper lowering a technician onto the main power
line to fix it.

I live in the Gardens area. We had a power outage on Tuesday night between 9pm and 11:30pm.
Yesterday there was another short break in power for about 20 minutes at mid-day.

I have heard from others there have been intermittent power outages across the peninsula
over the last week.

Are we experiencing non-advertised Load Shedding?

Cape Town - Large parts of Cape Town were left without power on Wednesday morning due to a faulty Eskom power line leading into the city.

Eskom spokesperson Jolene Henn said technicians had been doing maintenance on the Muldersvlei/Acasia line when the disruption occurred.

And we paying extra for electricity (what is it now 20 odd % extra for how many years now?) ... same electricity, same outages ... just for this type of stupidity to happen (yes because surely if you have such a big network you can "monitor" your own electricity lines before they can fault?) ...

It happens all over the world - I know Eskom isn't reliable or reputable, but we haven't had any power issues in Cape Town for 3.5 years, and this was a major failure they rectified quickly and efficiently.
I say well done to the techies.
